Apache webservers have a really cool and useful little feature called RewriteRule. It's sometimes referred to as the Swiss Army Knife of URL manipulation, because it's got two very important, often-used abilities: URL rewriting, and 301 redirection.

Portland, Estonia

Found an interesting quirk in Google local search today. I was looking for a particular company's placement (HTG) in Google local results. Google correctly spotted that I was in Portland, OR, and showed the following:





Clicking on "More results near Portland, OR" produced the following:





If you zoom out, you'll discover it's showing Estonia. Note that they get the sponsored results right, though...Portland.
